Abstract

This document specifies an ultraviolet fluorescence method for the determination of the sulphur content of petrol fuels which may contain up to 3,7 % (m/m) oxygen (including those containing up to 10 % (V/V) ethanol) and of diesel fuels which may contain up to 10 % (V/V) fatty acid methyl ester (FAME). The method can be used for sulphur contents in the range from 3 mg/kg to 500 mg/kg. Other products with different sulphur contents can be analyzed with this method, but the precision data given in this document have only been determined for automotive fuels for the range specified. Halogens interfere with the determination at concentrations above about 3 500 mg/kg.
