Ventilation for buildings - Environmental product declarations - Product Category Rules complementary to EN 15804 for air filters
Abstract
This document has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 195 "Cleaning equipment for air and other gases", the secretariat of which is held by UNI. This document provides complimentary product category rules (c-PCR) for particulate air filters and gas phase air cleaning devices, that are intended to be tested according to EN ISO 16890, EN 1822-1, EN ISO 10121. The c-PCR is complementary to the core rules defined in EN 15804+A2 which apply in full. This document does not apply to: - other air cleaning devices (e.g. electrostatic precipitators (ESP), UV-C devices); - air filters and gas phase air cleaning devices, which cannot be tested according to EN ISO 16890, EN 1822-1, EN ISO 10121 (e.g. due to too low or too high nominal airflows or due to size or shape of the air filters). The purpose is to ensure that Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for particulate air filters and gas phase air cleaning devices are consistent across all European countries and EPD programme operators and allow a comparison of these components based on their environmental impact under standardized conditions. National interests in the development of this standard were represented by Committee NA 060-09-21 AA "SpA CEN/TC 195 and ISO/TC 142" within the "General Ventilation Technology" division of the DIN Standards Committee for Mechanical Engineering (NAM). Representatives of air filter manufacturers and users, as well as from research and testing institutes, participated in the development.
