Safety requirements for cableway installations designed to carry persons - General requirements - Part 1: Requirements for all installations; German version prEN 12929-1:2025
Abstract
This document specifies the general provisions of the safety requirements for aerial ropeways for passenger transport. Supplementary safety requirements for bicable aerial tramways without suspension rope brakes are specified in EN 12929-2. General technical characteristics, design principles and general safety requirements are specified in this part of EN 12929. Not specified in this part of EN 12929 are details for operation and maintenance, calculations and detailed provisions on the design of the components. This part of EN 12929 contains requirements for the prevention of accidents and the protection of workers, without prejudice to the application of national regulations. National regulations of a constructional or regulatory nature or which serve to protect special groups of persons remain unaffected. Not all special groups of persons (e.g. persons with reduced mobility) will always be able to be transported on all types of ropeways. However, the aim is to enable as many people as possible to be transported by cable car. This standard does not apply to goods transport ropeways or lifts.
