Abstract

In order to reduce coupling loss and proximity effect coupling loss induced by alternating magnetic field or current, multi-filament composite superconducting wires should be twisted. Therefore, twist pitch is a very important parameter in the design and application of composite superconducting wires, which often needs to be inspected in the last stage of fabrication. This standard specifies the untwisting method for measuring the twist pitch of Nb-Ti and Nb-Sn composite superconductors. As supplementary methods, the direct measurement method and the image processing method are specified also.
