Photogrammetric products - Part 6: Requirements for digital elevation models

Abstract

This document specifies requirements for digital elevation models of regional, supra-regional, national and international extent. This document does not consider techniques based on terrestrial measurement methods, such as the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). For the purposes of this document, these techniques are used for georeferencing, providing control data, and determining quality. This document applies to the derivation of digital elevation models produced from airborne or spaceborne acquisition methods. The data acquisition method for digital elevation models depends on the target application and thus on the application-specific accuracy requirements and point density. According to the current state of the art, suitable methods for the acquisition of raw data for the derivation of digital elevation models are airborne and satellite-based photogrammetry, airborne laser scanning, and interferometric radar (InSAR). Requirements for sensors are not part of this document.
