Fire detection and fire alarm systems - Part 33: Components of voice alarm systems - Active loudspeakers

Abstract

This European Standard specifies product characteristics, test methods and performance criteria for loudspeakers with active components (active loudspeakers) intended to broadcast a warning of fire in the form of tone(s), voice message(s) or both, between a fire detection and fire alarm system for buildings and civil engineering works and the occupants of a building. NOTE 1. The overall performance of a voice alarm system, especially concerning audibility and intelligibility, is not covered by this part of EN 54. Such system performance may be recommended in CEN/TS 54-32, in national legislation, codes and standards or in contractual documents. NOTE 2. Passive loudspeakers are covered by EN 54-24 and sounders (including voice sounders) are covered by EN 54-3.
