Abstract

This document provides recommendations for the content, design and formulation of social media early warnings and notifications in crisis and disaster management towards the public. This document provides recommendations for the adaption of early warnings to social media platforms (e.g., microblogging, social networking platforms), ensuring that the content and design of messages while using a multi-channel approach remains consistent. This document is applicable to all actors, organisations and stakeholders in crisis and disaster management that seek to disseminate warnings, notifications or information to the public by the use of social media.
