Standardized method for the determination of the area coverage of ready-to-use for single-use disinfection wipes for use in the medical sector

Abstract

This DIN SPEC specifies requirements for the performance and evaluation of test methods for determining the coverage of pre-soaked disposable disinfectant wipes (from series production) in the healthcare sector. Furthermore, dry wipes that have been soaked according to the manufacturer's exact specifications can be tested. In this case, the claim is only valid for the specific combination tested. This document is not applicable for - all other types of pre-soaked wipes that are not intended for surface disinfection in the medical sector in accordance with DIN EN 16615, - pre-soaked, reusable cleaning textiles, - pre-soaked disposable disinfectant wipes used for cleaning floors, as these differ significantly in terms of handling and range. The test method defined in this specification covers the testing of non-porous surfaces and is therefore based on the selection of materials for the usual surfaces of objects and furniture as well as surfaces of medical devices in the healthcare sector. The testing and evaluation of the range serves the purpose of safe application and comparability. The data collection with this method is exclusively visual and does not allow any statement to be made about the microbiological effectiveness.
