Abstract

This document is a product standard that specifies requirements for decontamination showers for decontamination of chemical and biological agents. It applies to users who wear full protective suits and need to decontaminate them before taking them off at the end of regular use in order to prevent contamination carryover. This document specifies requirements for stationary as well as semi-stationary decontamination showers.
This document also specifies requirements for installation and labeling of decontamination showers, as well as requirements for information to be provided by the manufacturer regarding operation and maintenance.
This document does not apply to safety safety showers, which are described in the EN 15154 series of standards.
This document does not apply to decontamination showers in connection with activities involving asbestos (TRGS 519), work in contaminated areas (TRGS 524) and activities involving pyrolysis products from organic material with a concentration of benzo[a]pyrene of 50 mg/kg or more (TRGS 551).
