Corrosion protection of steel structures and their fasteners in drywall using corrosion protection systems - Laboratory tests for the evaluation of coating systems

Abstract

This document specifies laboratory test methods and test conditions for the evaluation of coating systems for corrosion protection in drywall. Steel materials in a material thickness of 0.3 mm - 3.0 mm and fasteners in nominal diameters up to 12 mm are assessed. The test results are regarded as an aid to selecting suitable coated substructures and fasteners and not as precise information for determining the duration of protection. This document indicates which protection class is suitable for which use situation of steel substructures and fasteners in drywall. This document applies to substructures and fasteners made of uncoated, coated, galvanised steel and steel surfaces with thermal sprayed or other metal coatings. The environmental conditions specified in DIN EN ISO 12944-2 for corrosivity categories C1 to C5 (M) are considered.
