Glass in Building - Design and construction rules - Part 5: Additional requirements for walk-on glazing

Abstract

This document is applicable to accessible glazing with exclusively scheduled passenger traffic under normal use and a vertical working load of not more than 5 kN/m2 according to DIN EN 1991-1-1:2010-12, 6.3 and DIN EN 1991-1-1/NA:2010-12, 6.3 (see Table 6.1), such as for stairs, landings, walkways and covers of light wells. More extensive requirements apply to glazing that is to be driven on, is subject to high permanent loads or for which an increased risk of impact must be assumed due to the conditions of use. This document is not applicable to glazing that can be walked on and is only entered for maintenance purposes.
