Glass in Building - Design and construction rules - Part 3: Point fixed glazing

Abstract

This document is applicable for point-fixed glazing. A distinction is made between point supports, which are guided through glass holes, and clamp supports, which are arranged at the edge or corners of the glazing. This document is applicable only to glazing structures where all glass panes are positively supported solely by mechanical retainers. This document is applicable only to infill glazing in accordance with DIN 18008-1:2020-05, 3.1.1. This document deals with the use of plate holders with cylindrical glass bores and countersunk head holders with partially tapered glass bores that embrace the entire glass thickness. Additional requirements in accordance with DIN 18008-4 to DIN 18008-6 apply to glazing that protects against falls, glazing that can be walked on or glazing that can be accessed for repair work. With regard to the distinction between horizontal and vertical glazing, the provisions of DIN 18008-1 apply mutatis mutandis.
