This document specifies the abbreviated designation for lubricants and related substances. This document specifies the labeling of packaging, containers, lubricant reservoirs, lubrication equipment, lubrication points, and the information provided in product data sheets. The general international labeling of lubricants is specified in DIN ISO 6743-99. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-06-51 AA "Anforderungen an Schmieröle und sonstige Öle" ("Requirements for lubricating oils and other oils") of Fachausschuss Mineralöl- und Brennstoffnormung (FAM) "(Technical Committee Petroleum, Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products (FAM)") of DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
