Overview
This test demonstrates that the filling and flooding compounds will not flow from a filled or flooded fibre optic cable, at stated temperatures. The standard describes the test setup, preconditioning, test conditions, monitoring, recovery time, final measurement, test severity, and measurement uncertainties, as well as details with regard to the test report. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The standard differs from DIN EN IEC 60794-1-22 (VDE 0888-100-22):2019-05, withdrawn in September 2022, as follows: a) this document contains an editorial revision based on the new structure and numbering system for optical fibre testing procedures. Application of this document increases investment security for manufacturers and users, provides testing laboratories and manufacturers with defined specifications for testing, and ensures compatibility across manufacturers.
