Overview

This document specifies requirements for the drafting, publication, amending, and withdrawal of VG standards and material data sheets (WL sheets) of the material handbook for defence technology. It is a complement to the standards of the DIN 820 series specifying additional defence materiel related requirements. Unless specified otherwise, the term "VG standard" as used in this document covers also the WL sheets of the material handbook for defence technology. This document is not applicable to the preparation of Technical Specifications (TL) of the BAAINBw. These specifications belong to a different standardization system and are prepared in accordance with TL A-0100. For the selection and application of standards and standard-like documents to the development, manufacture and repair of defence materiel DIN EN 16341 applies. For the development and procurement of products used in the defence technology sector the use of appropriate civil standards (e.g. DIN/EN/ISO) shall be preferred. If civil standards cannot be used because of the special defence requirements, it shall be envisaged to include these special defence technology requirements into civil standards, already existing or under preparation. In order to ensure this, the emancipated participation of experts of the BAAINBw in the respective civil standardisation committees of DIN is arranged. Only if a consideration of the essential defence technology requirements in civil standards cannot be carried out, defence materiel standards (VG) shall be prepared by involvement of all stakeholders.
