Overview
This document specifies requirements and tests for devices used to record additional grading characteristics during the visual grading of sawn timber in accordance with DIN 4074-1 and DIN 4074-5. The purpose of these requirements and tests is to ensure the proper functioning of this grading method. If visual grading is supported by devices, e.g. for determining the density, this is done using a method that fulfils the visual grading requirements in accordance with DIN EN 14081-1. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 042-01-07 AA "Bauholz; Güte" ("Construction timber; Quality" at DIN Standards Committee Timber and Furniture (NHM).
