Overview
This part of the IEC 60068 series of standards contains a description of the chamber and procedures for testing electrical equipment or components that are to be exposed to germicidal ultraviolet radiation (UVGI). The UV-C radiation used can alter or damage polymeric and textile materials; therefore, criteria for determining resistance to repeated UVGI exposure are also presented here. Another technical committee shall be responsible for effects directly related to fire or explosions. Standard 60068-2-87 is presented here in its first edition; insofar, there is currently no practical experience that has emerged as typical.
