Firefighting equipment - Explosion-proof portable transfer pump with electric motor - Requirements, type and acceptance test
Feuerwehrwesen - Explosionsgeschützte tragbare Umfüllpumpe (TUP) mit Elektromotor - Anforderungen, Typ- und Abnahmeprüfung
Overview
Explosion-proof portable transfer pumps with electric motors (TUP) are used in Zone 1 hazardous areas for transferring petroleum products and other flammable liquids classified in explosion groups II A and II B and temperature classes T1 through T3, with a kinematic viscosity of no more than 1,5 cm2/s. The standard is being revised in order to incorporate necessary changes resulting from a new efficiency regulation for electric motors. As a result of the new efficiency regulations the explosion-proof motors used for pumps in accordance with this standard may now only be manufactured to IE3 Premium Efficiency. These motors are longer than those previously used, which affects the overall length of the pump. The dimensions of the frame, particularly the positions of the fixing points, remain unchanged, although the outlet with the coupling may protrude from the frame. The anchor points of the frame are not altered so that the existing bearing plate continues to fit. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 031-04-05 AA "Feuerlöschpumpen" ("Fire-fighting pumps") at DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW).
