Cable trunking systems and cable ducting systems for electrical installations - Part 1: General requirements (IEC 61084-1:2017, modified); German version EN IEC 61084-1:2024 + A11:2024
Installationskanalsysteme für elektrische Installationen - Teil 1: Allgemeine Anforderungen (IEC 61084-1:2017, modifiziert); Deutsche Fassung EN IEC 61084-1:2024 + A11:2024
Overview
This part of the IEC 61084 series of standards specifies requirements and tests for cable trunking systems (CTS) and cable ducting systems (CDS) intended for the accommodation, and where necessary for the electrically protective separation, of insulated conductors, cables and possibly other electrical equipment in electrical and/or communication systems installations. The maximum voltage of these installations is 1 000 V AC and 1 500 V DC. This document does not apply to conduit systems, cable tray systems, cable ladder systems, power track systems or equipment covered by other standards. The standard differs from DIN EN 50085-1 (VDE 0604-1):2014-05 as follows: a) modifications based on EN IEC 61084-1:2024/A11:2024 - essentially these include: b) editorial changes; c) addition of a classification for CTS/CDS conduit covers; d) addition of a classification with regard to halogen content; e) requirements for electromagnetic properties according to CLC/TS 50659. These cable trunking systems and cable ducting systems are used for the installation of insulated conductors and cables in walls, ceilings, and floors. These cable trunking systems can also be used to accommodate devices such as switches, outlets, circuit breakers, etcetera.
