DIN 13260-2
Supply systems for medical gases - Part 2: Dimensions and allocation of probes and gas-specific connection points for terminal units
Versorgungsanlagen für medizinische Gase - Teil 2: Maße und Zuordnung von Steckern und gasartspezifischen Verbindungsstellen für Entnahmestellen
Overview
Specification is given to the dimensions and allocation of probes and connection points intended to be connected to terminal units of medical gas pipeline systems for use with medical gases and vacuum as well as for the supply and disposal of air and nitrogen for driving surgical tools. Terminal units are the points on a medical gas pipeline system where the operator makes connections and disconnections for the supply of specified medical gases and vacuum to anaesthetic machines, lung ventilators or other items of medical equipment. The use of gas-specific probes and gas-specific connection points ensures that each piece of medical equipment is provided with the proper gas. The standard differs from the 2013-09 edition in that the scope has been expanded to include probes and connection points for argon, oxygen 93, air, and nitrogen for driving surgical tools without exhaust air recirculation. In addition, the probe designated as "free" for profile No. 3 with dimensions d1 = 14 mm, d2 = 11,5 mm, and d3 = 3,5 mm has been deleted. The reasons for specifying the gas-specific probe for oxygen 93 are explained in the informative annex. Working Committee NA 176-05-04 AA "Zentrale Gasversorgungsanlagen" ("Central gas supply systems") at DIN Standards Committee Health Technologies (NAGesuTech) is responsible for the document.
