Overview

This document applies to fire-fighting centrifugal pumps (FP) in conjunction with DIN EN 1028-1 and DIN EN 1028-2. When applying this document, it is assumed that a type test of the fire-fighting centrifugal pumps (FP) has already been carried out in accordance with DIN EN 1028-2. This document supplements the harmonized series of European standards for firefighting centrifugal pumps, DIN EN 1028. It contains requirements for the suction-sided and pressure-sided assembly as well as testing after installation in the fire-fighting vehicle. The European standard series DIN EN 1028 applies to fire-fighting centrifugal pumps that are supplied individually without drive and couplings. However, there are different coupling systems in Europe for connecting pressure and suction hoses. In order to ensure the compatibility of all components of the fire water supply in Germany (that is, the suction- and pressure sided assembly of fire-fighting centrifugal pumps) and to be able to carry out individual testing of fire-fighting centrifugal pumps in the fire-fighting vehicle in a reproducible manner, Working Committee NA 031-04-05 AA "Fire-fighting pumps - mirror committee to CEN/TC 192/WG 2" decided to draw up the present so-called "residual standard" for the DIN EN 1028 series of standards. The standard differs from DIN 14420:2002-11 as follows: a) scope revised; b) requirements completely revised; c) clause on controls and markings added; d) individual testing of the fire-fighting centrifugal pump in the fire-fighting vehicle revised; e) annexes added; f) normative references and bibliography updated.
