DIN SPEC 91503
Procedure for the asynchronous handover of semi-trailers in relay traffic

Title (German)

Verfahren zur asynchronen Übergabe von Sattelaufliegern im Begegnungs- und Stafettenverkehr

Procedure

PAS

Overview

This DIN SPEC has been prepared by a DIN SPEC consortium (temporary committee) in the course of the PAS procedure. The preparation and adoption of this DIN SPEC have been carried out by the authors named in the foreword. This document applies to transport processes within the meaning of relay traffic in road freight transport that involve asynchronous semi-trailer transfers with IoT locks. The document does not apply to other transport processes and loading units. This document specifies a structured process that describes the procedure for drivers during the asynchronous transfer of semi-trailers in heavy-duty goods transport. The transfer process includes both the handover process (uncoupling) and the pick-up process (coupling) of semi-trailers. Semi-trailers that are to undergo an asynchronous handover process are equipped with an electronic anti-theft device (IoT lock). This document defines terms that serve to understand the processes described, defines the actors involved, explains relay traffic, and defines the tools used. Process diagrams are provided that describe the procedure, the physical process steps, and the responsibilities of the actors involved. In addition, the verification of the transfer conditions with regard to uniform process flows and results is specified. Potential technical malfunctions are identified and possible countermeasures for troubleshooting are defined in case they occur during the handover process. Furthermore, the transmission of relevant information is described.
