Overview
This document describes how fonts are legibly displayed. The specifications ensure that text information is legible under normal conditions. This does not apply to areas for which special standards or other specifications apply. This document describes how fonts are legibly displayed. Since the publication of DIN 1450:2013-04, demographic developments and the special needs of people with visual impairments have been taken into account in particular. While the DIN 1450:1993-07 edition mainly concerned the legibility of fonts in public spaces, the DIN 1450:2013-04 edition supplemented the document with information on the legibility of texts in books, magazines, and newspapers. The information provided takes only technical and functional aspects into account. In addition, historical, cultural, and design aspects also play a role, so that all aspects need to be carefully considered. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 152-06-02 AA "Schriften" ("Lettering") at DIN Standards Committee Technical Fundamentals (NATG).
