Overview

This document has been prepared at DIN Standards Committee Shipbuilding and Marine Technology (NSMT), Working Committee NA 132-01-05 AA "Heben, Schleppen, Ankern" ("Heaving, towing, anchoring"). This document is applicable to towing equipments with magnetizable and non-magnetizable metallic and textile components used on watercraft of the German Navy. In this case, the individual metal towing brackets (see VG 84554-1/-2) and double shackles (see VG 84553-1/-2/-3) are replaced by textile shackles. The function of the shear bolt as a predetermined breaking point is ensured by a smaller textile shackle (predetermined breaking shackle) with a defined breaking load. This document is not applicable to towing equipment on tugs, salvage vessels and submarines. It specifies the composition, dimensions, requirements and tests for towing equipments.
