Neutronen-Referenzstrahlungsfelder - Teil 3: Kalibrierung von Orts- und Personendosimetern und Bestimmung ihres Ansprechvermögens als Funktion der Neutronenenergie und des Einfallswinkels (ISO 8529-3:2023, einschließlich korrigierter Fassung 2023-09); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 8529-3:2024
Overview
This part of the DIN ISO 8529 series of standards provides guidance for those who calibrate protection-level dosemeters and doserate meters for area and individual monitoring with reference neutron radiation fields. This includes the determination of the response as a function of neutron energy and angle of incidence. The determination of the response of dosimeters is essentially a three-step process: - First, a primary quantity such as the neutron flux at the test site is determined. - Then, the reference point of the device to be calibrated is positioned at the test site to determine the response to the neutron flux. - Next, the responsivity of the device with respect to the appropriate operational quantity is determined by applying conversion coefficients that relate the physical quantity (the flux) to the operational quantity (the equivalent dose). The operational quantities recommended in ICRU Report 51 are considered. In addition to the description of procedures, this document includes appropriate definitions and conversion coefficients and provides guidance on the statement of measurement uncertainties. ISO 8529-1 describes the reference neutron radiation fields in the energy range from thermal to 20 MeV and the methods for their generation. ISO 8529-2 describes the fundamentals of the physical quantities that characterize the radiation field and general calibration procedures with a focus on active dose rate meters and the use of radionuclide sources. The standard differs from DIN 6802-2:1999-11 as follows: a) the normative references have been updated and converted to ISO standards, see the list of corresponding DIN-ISO and DIN-EN-ISO standards in the National Annex NA; b) the conversion coefficients and their determination have been adapted to ISO 8529-1:2021, see DIN EN ISO 8529-1 (VDE 0412-8529-1):2024-02; c) Clause 3, containing a few definitions, replaces Annex B of DIN 6802-2:1999-11; d) Clause 7 on uncertainties has been newly added; e) the bibliography has been updated and supplemented; f) the structure and text have been completely revised.
