DIN 4108 Beiblatt 2 Berichtigung 1
Thermal insulation and energy economy in buildings - Supplement 2: Thermal bridges - Examples for planning and performance; Corrigendum 1

Title (German)

Wärmeschutz und Energie-Einsparung in Gebäuden - Beiblatt 2: Wärmebrücken - Planungs- und Ausführungsbeispiele; Berichtigung 1

Overview

This Supplement contains planning examples for reducing thermal bridge effects. The Supplement illustrates principles of connection details from building construction. Planning and execution examples are shown only from the perspective of thermal insulation. Other building physics and other structural requirements shall be taken into account by the user on a project-specific basis. The length-related heat transfer coefficients specified are reference values and are used exclusively to demonstrate the equivalence of other connection modifications not shown in the Supplement. The conditions and boundary conditions specified in this Supplement apply to the demonstration of equivalence of the examples listed in this Supplement. They can also be used in place of the approaches according to DIN EN ISO 10211 and DIN EN ISO 13370 as a simplification for the detailed determination of length-related heat transfer coefficients for the calculation of a project-related thermal bridge allowance. This Supplement does not take into account all thermal bridges that occur in buildings. Compared to the previous edition, the example solutions have been fundamentally revised and their scope significantly expanded. The different energy levels (categories A and B) for determining the general thermal bridge allowance have been incorporated and information on detailed thermal bridge verification and forms have been added. In addition, component connections for post-and-beam constructions and associated reference values and boundary conditions have been included, as well as a procedure for simplified verification of window connections using a substitute model. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 005-56-91 AA "Wärmetransport" ("Heat transmission") at DIN Standards Committee Building and Civil Engineering (NABau).
