Overview
This standard incorporates procedure G11B from IEC 60794-1-23:2019, which will be withdrawn after publication of the last part of the standard. The title of test method G11B and its content did not match. The title mentioned microtubes, but the text stated that the test was intended for bundle conductors with a circular cross-section with an outer diameter greater than 12,5 mm and for sector conductors large enough to produce rod samples. In the new heading, microtubes have been omitted with reference to IEC 60794-1-23:2019. The system for optical fiber test methods has been restructured and renumbered. The test methods for optical fiber cable elements contained in IEC 60794-1-23:2019 are now individually numbered in the IEC 60794-1-3xx series of standards. Each test method is now treated as an individual document rather than part of a compendium of several test methods. All details on cross-references are contained in IEC 60794-1-2. The standard describes the test setup, conditioning, monitoring, recovery time, final measurement, and measurement uncertainties, as well as details on the test report. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The standard differs from DIN EN IEC 60794-1-23 (VDE 0888-100-23):2020-09 as follows: a) the heading has been adapted to the content of the procedure. The standard increases investment security for manufacturers and users and provides test laboratories and manufacturers with defined information on testing.
