Overview

This document provides the most important design and metrological characteristics of micrometers for external measurements: - with analogue indication; - with digital indication: mechanical or electronic digital display. This document (EN ISO 3611:2023) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 213 "Dimensional and geometrical product specifications and verification" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 290 "Dimensional and geometrical product specification and verification", the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR (France). The responsible national standardization committee is Subcommittee NA 152-03-02-07 UA "Längenprüftechnik außer Koordinaten-, Form- und Oberflächenmesstechnik sowie Gewindekenngrößen" ("Length checking practice except coordinate, form and surface measuring technology as well as characteristics of screw threads") of Working Committee NA 152-03-02 AA "CEN/ISO Geometrische Produktspezifikation und Prüfung" ("CEN/ISO Geometrical product specifications and verification") at DIN Standards Committee Technical Fundamentals (NATG). This document specifies design and metrological characteristics of micrometers for external measurements. The metrological characteristics serve as the basis for evaluating the uncertainty of measurements carried out with a micrometer for external measurements.
