Overview
This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 087-00-08 AA "Fahrzeugkopf/Führerraum" ("Driver's cab") at DIN Standards Committee Railway (FSF). With the preparation of the EN 16186 series of standards the scope of this standard has been limited to vehicles whose driver's cabs are not subject to a European standard. This document specifies the general requirements for the driver's workplace in rail vehicles, regardless of their field of application. It describes how the driver is to be integrated into the driver's working environment and how the working area around the driver is to be designed. This document applies to all driver's cabs or driver's seats in rail vehicles that are subject to EBO, ESBO, BOA, EBOA, and/or BOStrab. This document does not apply to: - vehicles that fall within the scope of the DIN EN 16186 series of standards, - vehicles that fall within the scope of the DIN EN 14033 series of standards, - auxiliary driver's cabs and auxiliary driver's stands used exclusively for shunting purposes, - steam locomotives, road-rail vehicles, and remote-controlled shunting vehicles without a driver's cab. The standard differs from DIN 5566-1:2020-05 as follows: a) the foreword has been adapted to take account of the publication of further parts of the European Standard series DIN EN 16186; b) the scope has been adapted to take account of the publication of further parts of the European Standard series DIN EN 16186; c) normative references have been updated.
