DIN EN IEC 60966-3
Radio frequency and coaxial cable assemblies - Part 3: Sectional specification for semi-flexible coaxial cable assemblies (IEC 60966-3:2023); German version EN IEC 60966-3:2023
Konfektionierte Koaxial- und Hochfrequenzkabel - Teil 3: Rahmenspezifikation für halbflexible konfektionierte Koaxialkabel (IEC 60966-3:2023); Deutsche Fassung EN IEC 60966-3:2023
Overview
This part of IEC 60966 is a blank detail specification relating to semi-flexible coaxial cable assemblies used in the transverse electromagnetic mode (TEM). The creation of a uniform layout and style for detail specifications is achieved by using the blank detail specification form. The detail specification can be created by inserting data into the form by a national standardization body, an approved manufacturer, or a user (if created by a user, the detail specification shall be submitted to the national authorized institution by an approved manufacturer). The sectional specification specifies which characteristic values (electrical, mechanical, and environmental test values, rated values, or characteristics) are to be specified in the detail specification. Higher-level values are included. For this purpose, reference is made to the relevant IEC standard and to a blank detail specification. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The standard differs from DIN EN 60966-3:2010-01 as follows: a) 4.3 "Relative position dimensions of the interface" has been added; b) "Figure 2" has been added; c) Clause 6 "IEC type designation" has been added; d) "Figure 3" has been changed; e) Clause 7 "Rated values and characteristic values" has been added; f) "Requirements/remarks" has been added to all tests in Clause 8; g) Several characteristic values have been added, for example insertion loss stability, intermodulation level measurement, corona breakdown voltage, simple bending, abrasion test of the assembled cable, mechanical life, and so on; h) Test plans have been rewritten; i) Annex A and Annex B have been added. The standard increases investment security for manufacturers and users through its application, provides test laboratories and manufacturers with defined information for testing, and ensures compatibility across manufacturers.
