Overview

This part of IEC 61300 presents two methods for testing the sealing performance of a fibre optic sealed closure and hardened connector using air pressure. The standard describes the test setup, pretreatment, monitoring, recovery time, final measurement, and measurement uncertainties, as well as details of the test report. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The standard differs from DIN EN 61300-2-38:2007-05 as follows: a) addition of sealed, robust connectors; b) recommended test severities from IEC 61753-1; c) test configurations for robust connectors and adapters/couplings. The standard increases investment security for manufacturers and users through its application and provides test laboratories and manufacturers with defined specifications for testing.
