Haemostaseology - Reference method for the Von Willebrand Factor antigen; Text in German and English

Title (German)

Hämostaseologie - Referenzmethode zur Bestimmung des Von Willebrand Faktor Antigens; Text Deutsch und Englisch

Overview

DIN 58987 describes a reference method for determining the Von Willebrand factor antigen. Von Willebrand disease is caused by congenital or acquired quantitative and/or functional disorders of the Von Willebrand factor. It is one of the most common congenital or acquired coagulation disorders characterized by an increased tendency to bleed. Antigen determination is used for differential diagnosis to distinguish between quantitative disorders, in which the antigen content is decreased, and qualitative disorders, in which the antigen content is higher than the activity. Detection of the Von Willebrand factor antigen in patient plasma is done using ligand affinity assays. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA176-08-04 AA "Hämostaseologie" ("Haemostaseology") at DIN Standards Committee Health Technologies (NAGesuTech).
