Overview

This standard describes the reference test methods for determining the properties of sunglasses given in ISO 12312. It is applicable to all sunglasses and related eyewear. The test methods specified include the evaluation of design and materials as well as spectralphotometric, optical, and mechanical properties. Supplementary specifications and information are provided in the annexes. Closely related to this standard are the draft standards DIN EN ISO 4007 "Personal protective equipment - Eye and face protection - Vocabulary" and DIN EN ISO 12312 "Eye and face protection - Sunglasses and related eyewear". This standard has been or is being prepared together with the two aforementioned documents by CEN/TC 85 in collaboration with ISO/TC 94/SC 6.
