Overview
This document specifies requirements and tests for boxes and enclosures with provision for suspension means. The requirements and tests of this document apply in addition to the general requirements and tests from IEC 60670-1. Among other things - the classification of these boxes and enclosures is specified depending on the design; - the dimensions; - the required protection against electric shock, including the protective conductor connection; - the structure; - resistance to ageing; - resistance to harmful ingress of solid foreign objects and water; - insulation resistance and dielectric strength; and - mechanical strength and its physical properties. This document does not apply to boxes and enclosures described in other parts of the IEC 60670 series of standards. The standard differs from DIN EN 60670-21 (VDE 0606-21):2008-03 as follows: a) in Clause 10 "Protection against electric shock", the amendments to IEC 60670-21:2004/A1:2016 replace the common amendments to EN 60670-21:2007; b) in Clause 15 "Mechanical strength", the required information on possible "higher torques" has been reformulated; c) in 15.101.1, Note 4 on other test temperatures in NL is omitted. Boxes and enclosures provision for suspension means are used, for example, for the suspension of ceiling-mounted luminaires and their electrical connection.
