Automatic electrical controls - Part 2-5: Particular requirements for automatic electrical burner control systems (IEC 60730-2-5:2013, modified + A1:2017 + A2:2021 + COR1:2023); German version EN 60730-2-5:2015 + A1:2019 + A2:2021 + AC:2023

Title (German)

Automatische elektrische Regel- und Steuergeräte - Teil 2-5: Besondere Anforderungen an automatische elektrische Brenner-Steuerungs- und Überwachungssysteme (IEC 60730-2-5:2013, modifiziert + A1:2017 + A2:2021 + COR1:2023); Deutsche Fassung EN 60730-2-5:2015 + A1:2019 + A2:2021 + AC:2023

Overview

This document applies to automatic electrical burner control systems for the automatic control of burners for oil, gas, coal, or other fuels for domestic use and similar applications, as well as in shops, offices, hospitals, agricultural businesses, and for commercial and industrial applications. This International Standard applies to: - a complete burner control system; - a separate control device; - a separate electronic high-voltage ignition source; - a separate flame detector; - and a separate high-temperature operation (HTO) detector. This International Standard also applies to a burner control system intended for use in forced-air heaters (furnaces) where the appliance is equipped with an electromechanical differential pressure control to monitor the difference in combustion air pressure (type 2.AL). This pressure control provides a switch as an alternative to one of the two switching elements in order to directly switch off the safety-relevant terminals. This document also applies to electrical burner control systems intended exclusively for industrial process applications, for example, for the applications covered by ISO/TC 244 (ISO 13577). This document applies to control devices powered by primary or secondary batteries, the requirements for which are contained within the standard, including Annex V. This document applies to the inherent safety, specified operating values, operating times, and operating sequences when these are related to the safety of the burner, as well as to the testing of automatic electrical burner control systems used in or on or in connection with burners. This document applies to systems operated with alternating or direct current with a rated voltage up to AC 660 V or DC 600 V. This document also applies to systems containing electronic devices; the requirements for these are contained in Annex H. This document applies to systems that use NTC or PTC thermistors; additional requirements for these are contained in Annex J. This document covers systems that respond to flame characteristics and temperatures during high-temperature operation (HTO). This document applies to the electrical and functional safety of control devices that are capable of receiving and responding to communication signals. The signals may be transmitted to or received from external devices that are connected by wire or wirelessly and may or may not be part of the burner control system. This document does not apply to thermoelectric flame monitors; these are covered in ISO 23551-6. This document does not consider the response value to an automatic operation of a control device if such a response value depends on the type of installation of the control device in the equipment. If a response value is of particular importance for the safety of the user or the environment, the value defined in the relevant standard for household appliances or specified by the manufacturer shall be applied. This document does not address the integrity of the output signal to network devices, such as interoperability with other devices, unless it has been evaluated as part of the control system. The standard differs from DIN EN 60730-2-5 (VDE 0631-2-5):2020-01 as follows: a) the scope has been expanded; b) subclause 7.2.6 has been completely replaced with new content, Table 1 has been adapted; c) subclause 11.3.5.2 has been completely replaced with new content, Class C control function systems shall have at least two switching elements for direct shutdown of safety-related terminals; d) subclauses 11.102.2 to 11.103.5 have been amended; the reset function of the fault shutdown shall be a Class B control function in accordance with H.27.1.2.2; e) subclause 17.1.3 Test sequence and conditions have been amended; f) Annex H, Requirements for electronic control devices, has been supplemented. Typical examples of applications include complete burner control systems, flame monitors or monitors for high-temperature operation (HTO monitors), and a burner control system intended for use in forced-air heating devices.
