DIN 80103
Inland navigation vessels - Minimum requirements for habitations

Title (German)

Fahrzeuge der Binnenschifffahrt - Mindestanforderungen an Wohnungen

Overview

This standard applies to inland navigation vessels. Inland navigation vessels on which the permanent presence of crew members is required even outside working hours have to be provided with living quarters. These shall be adequately sized for the crew according to the possible use of the inland navigation vessel (daily, semi-permanent, permanent voyage) and meet the requirements of hygiene, health and safety. The standard describes the required spaces for crew members, their size, arrangement and equipment. There are also requirements designed to protect the privacy of crew members, but these do not apply in part to private dwellings. This standard has been prepared by DIN Standards Committee Shipbuilding and Marine Technology (NSMT), Working Committee NA 132-07-01 AA "FA Binnenschifffahrt, Wasserfahrzeuge, Hafenanlagen (BWH) und NA 132-07 FB" ("Inland navigation, inland vessels, port facilities and Steering Committee of Section Inland Navigation Vessels").
