Overview

The document specifies the general requirements in terms of function, performance, testing, marking and quality assurance for prefabricated septic tanks together with associated equipment used for the treatment of domestic wastewater for a maximum of 50 PT. Pipe diameters, load assumptions, watertightness, marking and quality assurance are specified. The standard does not apply to septic tanks that are exclusively charged with gray water and septic tanks manufactured on-site. This document (EN 12566-1:2016) has been prepared by CEN/TC 165 "Waste water engineering", the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 119-05-04 AA "Kleinkläranlagen" ("Small type wastewater treatment plants") at DIN Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW).
