Overview

This standard applies to the use of open radioactive substances in medicine. It specifies rules for handling open radioactive substances in medicine. The standard contains safety-related specifications within the meaning of the German Radiation Protection Ordinance (StrlSchV), the guideline RADIATION PROTECTION in medicine and the guideline for physical radiation protection control. It serves to fulfill the relevant legal and administrative regulations for RADIATION PROTECTION, the accident prevention regulations and the special requirements of the responsible licensing authorities in the field of medicine. DIN 25425-4 applies to the protective measures for handling open radioactive substances in radionuclide laboratories in the non-medical field. The standard has been prepared by NA 080-00-03 AA "Nuklearmedizin" ("Nuclear medicine") at DIN Standards Committee Radiology (NAR).
