DIN ISO 18421
Ships and marine technology - Inland navigation vessels - Lifebuoy housings (ISO 18421:2016)

Title (German)

Schiffe und Meerestechnik - Fahrzeuge der Binnenschifffahrt - Gehäuse für Rettungsringe (ISO 18421:2016)

Overview

This standard specifies the design, function and dimensions of housings for lifebuoys. Port operators and companies who are responsible for the safety of port and shore facilities and have the obligation to place lifebuoys in a clearly recognizable position and to ensure quick access to the lifebuoy are assisted by the application of this standard. In addition, the housing protects the lifebuoy against harmful weather conditions and acts as a deterrent against vandalism and theft. The housing for lifebuoys according to this standard may be life-saving, as the chance that an intact lifebuoy is within reach in an emergency is increased by the housing.
