DIN 14941
Clothing for firemen - Buttons
Feuerwehrkleidung - Knöpfe
Overview
The standard applies to buttons attached to clothing for firefighting, primarily the firefighting service outfit, and specifies their dimensions, designation, requirements and tests. Buttons for firefighters' service clothing according to this standard are referred to in regulations for the implementation of individual state firefighting laws, for example for the identification of wearers of service clothing. Furthermore, the specified dimensions are necessary as interface specifications, for example, for the different buttonhole designs of the entire fire department service clothing. The February 1983 edition of DIN 14941 has been revised to bring the contents of the standard up to date. In particular, the button types I to M (short eyelet, screw and sleeve or push button with spring and ball part) have been included, some dimensions and the normative references have been updated and the marking has been revised. The standard has been prepared in Working committee NA 031-04-09 AA "Sonstige Ausrüstung - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 5" ("Other equipment - mirror committee of CEN/TC 192/WG 5") at DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW).
