Overview

This International Standard establishes the requirements for the identification and documentation of unsealed radioactive substances issued commercially by suppliers and which are intended for further handling or treatment, either physical or chemical. Requirements for radiopharmaceuticals and standard sources are not covered. The shipping cask of the unsealed radioactive material shall be permanently and legibly marked as specified in Clause 4 of the standard. Clause 5 of the standard specifies the information that must be included in the certificate to be supplied by the manufacturer. The responsible committee is DKE/K 967 "Mess-, Steuer- und Regelungstechnik im Zusammenhang mit ionisierender Strahlung" ("Measuring, control and regulatory technology in connection with ionizing radiation") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
