DIN EN 59
Glass reinforced plastics - Determination of indentation hardness by means of a Barcol hardness tester; German version EN 59:2016

Title (German)

Glasfaserverstärkte Kunststoffe - Bestimmung der Eindruckhärte mit einem Barcol-Härteprüfgerät; Deutsche Fassung EN 59:2016

Overview

This European Standard specifies a method for determining the indentation hardness of glass reinforced plastics materials by means of a Barcol hardness tester. The Barcol hardness tester is a portable device which can be used to test the hardness of parts or of individual test specimens during production. This standard differs from DIN EN 59:1977-11 as follows: the title of the standard for glass fiber reinforced plastics has been adapted, all references have been transferred into normative text, Clause 2 "Normative references" has been updated, Clause 3 "Brief description" has been included, Clause 6 "Adjustment" has been revised and the standard has been editorially revised. This document (EN 59:2016) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 249 "Plastics", the secretariat of which is held by NBN (Belgium). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 054-02-02 AA "Verstärkte Kunststoffe und härtbare Harze" ("Reinforced plastics and thermosetting materials") at DIN Standards Committee Plastics (FNK).
