Measurement of fiber optic elements - Part 1: Determination of attenuation of optical fibres; Text in German and English

Title (German)

Messung von faseroptischen Elementen - Teil 1: Bestimmung der Dämpfung von Lichtleitfasern; Text Deutsch und Englisch

Overview

The DIN 58141 standard series specifies measurement methods for fibre optic elements. The standard DIN 58141-1 applies for the measurement of fibre optic elements and products for image and data transmission (distances up to 100 m) as well as for transmission of light and optical radiation in the near infrared and ultraviolet spectral range. It is not applicable for fibre optic elements and products intended for telecommunication and data transmission over distances exceeding 100 m. The purpose of this standard is to define a uniform method for determining the attenuation coefficient from the internal spectral transmittance. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 027-01-16 AA "Faseroptik" ("Fibre optics") at DIN Standards Committee Optics and Precision Mechanics (NAFuO).
