DIN 52161-7
Testing of wood preservatives - Detection of wood preservatives in wood - Part 7: Determination of the content of copper bearing wood preservatives

Title (German)

Prüfung von Holzschutzmitteln - Nachweis von Holzschutzmitteln im Holz - Teil 7: Bestimmung des Gehaltes von kupferhaltigen Holzschutzmitteln

Overview

This standard specifies methods for the quantitative determination of copper in wood treated with copper-bearing wood preservatives. The methods illustrated can be used for quantification of other inorganic preservative components such as chromium and boron. Compared with DIN 52161-7:1985-09, the reference to chromium-bearing wood preservatives has been deleted and the scope has been limited to copper-bearing wood preservatives. The determination of chromium and boron has been included informatively. Photometric analysis has been replaced by optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES). Sampling is conducted according to European Standards and wet chemical digestion is performed by means of microwave and Behr apparatus. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 042-03-06 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 38 und ISO/TC 165/SC 1 Dauerhaftigkeit von Holz und Holzprodukten" ("Mirror committee for CEN/TC 38 and ISO/TC 165/SC 1 Durability of wood and wood products") at DIN.
