Electroplated coatings - Duplex systems of zinc or zinc alloy coatings with organic coatings on iron or steel

Title (German)

Galvanische Überzüge - Duplex-Systeme aus Zink- oder Zinklegierungsüberzügen mit organischen Beschichtungen auf Eisenwerkstoffen

Overview

The electroplated zinc and zinc alloy coatings on iron or steel additionally applied with an organic coating, are applied with the aim of increased corrosion protection. Deep black or aluminium coloured technical surfaces are primarily produced by this method. The zinc alloy coatings contain nickel or iron (zinc/nickel, zinc/iron) as lead components. Due to their temperature resistance duplex systems are suitable for loads where temperatures of up to 180 °C can be present (for example, in engine departments of vehicles). This standard applies to galvanically precipitated zinc and zinc alloy coatings on iron or steel additionally applied with an organic coating. The standard applies for parts usually coated in drums, baskets, trays or on strips, but also by means of rack systems. This standard does not apply to sealings. This standard does not apply to fasteners with threads. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-01-76 AA "Galvanische Überzüge" ("Electrodeposited coatings") of the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP) at DIN, the German Institute of Standardization e. V.
