Paints and varnishes - Determination of stone-chip resistance of coatings - Part 3: Single-impact test with a free-flying impact body (ISO 20567-3:2012); German version EN ISO 20567-3:2012

Title (German)

Beschichtungsstoffe - Prüfung der Steinschlagfestigkeit von Beschichtungen - Teil 3: Einzelschlagprüfung mit frei fliegendem Schlagkörper (ISO 20567-3:2012); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 20567-3:2012

Overview

In the automotive industry, multi-layer paint coatings are applied to car bodies for protection. Grit, roadmetal and other materials can damage these coatings in such a way that individual layers come off or the whole coating delaminates from the substrate. Stone chipping can be simulated by means of single- and/or multi-impact tests. This standard specifies a method for the evaluation of the resistance of automobile finishes and other coatings to the impact of a single, free-flying body projected onto the surface under test to simulate the impact of stones. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 002-00-07-09 AK "Automobilbeschichtungen" ("Automotive coatings") at DIN.
