Title (German)

Ophthalmische Implantate - Intraokularlinsen - Teil 3: Mechanische Eigenschaften und Prüfverfahren (ISO 11979-3:2012); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 11979-3:2012

Overview

The standard specifies requirements and test methods for certain mechanical properties of intraocular lenses (IOLs). It is applicable to all types of IOLs intended for implantation in the anterior segment of the human eye - excluding corneal implants - provided that the test method is appropriate to the particular design. It is directed at all experts dealing with the design, manufacture and testing as well as the associated documentation of intraocular lenses. With respect to the previous edition of the standard the relevant additional requirements for accommodating and toric intraocular lenses have been included. The standard has been prepared by ISO/TC 172/SC 7 "Ophthalmic optics and instruments" (secretariat: DIN). The responsible committee on the national level is NA 027-01-20 AA "Intraokulare Medizinprodukte" ("Intraocular medical devices") at the Optics and Precision Mechanics Standards Committee (NAFuO).
