DIN 6878-1
Digital archiving in medical radiology - Part 1: General requirements for the archiving of images

Title (German)

Digitale Archivierung in der medizinischen Radiologie - Teil 1: Allgemeine Anforderungen an die Archivierung von Bildern

Overview

The standard specifies the minimum requirements for digital archiving of images in medical radiology. This includes projection radiography, computed tomography, nuclear medicine, magnetic resonance imaging and sonography. According to this standard, only images conforming to the requirements of the DICOM standard can be archived. Other image formats shall first be converted into DICOM to be archived according to this standard. The standard does not apply to digital image storage. This standard ensures that images which can be used for interpretation can be archived and restored. In addition to specifications for the archiving process, it contains important definitions of terms which are of significant importance in connection with the implementation of the Röntgenverordnung (RöV) (German X-ray Regulation (RöV)). The standard has been completely revised and adapted to the state of the art and will replace the 1998 version of the standard. The standard has been prepared by NA 080-00-04 AA "Informationsverarbeitung" ("Information processing") of NAR.
