Overview

This specification specifies requirements for occupational health management enabling an organization to develop its operational framework conditions, structures and processes and implement them so the working system and organization can be designed such it meets health standards and is efficiency-enhancing and enables the members of the organization to promote health behaviour. The specification surpasses legal obligations regarding occupational health and safety and measures of workplace health promotion and provides the organization management with guidance with the aim to have sustainable success in a complex, demanding and ever-changing environment by application of occupational health management. All requirements specified in this specification are of a general nature and applicable to every organization, independent of its type and size, its various geographic, cultural and social conditions and of the type of the products or services provided. This specification allows an organization to harmonize its own occupational health management system with related requirements of other management systems or bring them together with these management systems. This is ensured by using ISO Guide 83 when structuring the specification. This specification can be used by internal and external parties, including accreditation bodies and accredited certification bodies in order to evaluate the ability of the organization - to meet their legal obligations and additional requirements and expectations of the interested parties as well as - requirements of the organization itself regarding occupational health management. The compatibility matrix in the annex of the specification compares the specification and ISO 9001:2008. The committee responsible for this standard is KoSMaS 130-01 AK "Betriebliches Gesundheitsmanagement" ("Occupational health management") at DIN.
