DIN 13500
Van bodies for road ambulances - Requirements and test methods

Title (German)

Kofferaufbauten für Krankenkraftwagen - Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren

Overview

Increased transport of patients and rescue services personnel in road ambulances with van bodies calls for safety standards for the users. This standard has been prepared by a joint German-French working group as a result of a lack of regulations for testing van bodies for the transport of persons. DIN 13500 specifies requirements and test methods for van bodies intended for equipment of road ambulances with a total mass of up to 5 000 kg in order to ensure an adequate level of safety. At DIN (the German Institute for Standardization e. V.), this standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 053-01-02 AA "Krankenkraftfahrzeuge und deren medizinische und technische Ausstattung" ("Ambulances and its medical and technical equipment") at the Rescue Services and Hospital Standards Committee (NARK).
